College Planning
The college selection and application process is a time of self-discovery and personal growth. As our students reflect on their lives and evaluate what is meaningful and important to their continued academic and personal growth, it is critical to develop criteria for a college environment that will accommodate these needs.
Starting to visit colleges in the middle of junior year helps our young men to focus on goals for senior year and the future. This experience also allows students to interact with family members on a young adult level because they will be making their first major decision about where to attend college.
We encourage our students to keep an open mind and listen to all of the input, advice, and suggestions from family, counselors, teachers, and college admissions officers. Students will need to take the time to evaluate the advice and put it into a perspective that is meaningful and helpful.
There are over three thousand undergraduate institutions in the United States alone, and our goal is to help students create a menu of choices and options for education beyond high school. Searching for colleges can be an interesting and exciting experience - one that involves parents, family, and friends. It is our hope that the resources provided here will create a collaborative and informed effort to help our young men find their "best fit" college.
